Planning for the duplication of Main South Road should include provision for overpasses and underpasses at key intersections to ensure less restricted traffic flow.
Liberal candidate for Mayo Georgina Downer welcomed the South Australian Government’s announcement today that it would commission a planning study for both stages of the $305 million duplication of Main South Road from Seaford to Sellicks Beach.
“I also welcome the State Government’s commitment to ongoing consultation with stakeholders and the local community,” Ms Downer said.
“Earlier this week I met with the Main South Road Action Group and discussed their concerns about the treatment of key intersections
“They would like to see the Federal Government chip in funding to ensure these intersections include overpasses and underpasses to ensure less restricted traffic flow.
“I’m certainly ready to take this matter to both governments and advocate for upgraded intersections. The duplication is not only aimed at improving road safety, but also to accommodate anticipated growth in traffic volumes. It makes sense to ensure this increased traffic can move freely.”
